Jacket is partially attached to boards from moisture at the head of the boards. Would very probably steam off nicely. The jacket has small chip missing from the head of the spine and across the top of the spine to about 5mm in depth and a 3cm tear on the back panel adjoining the chip.Front panel has a few small nicks. The back board has moisture damage to the back leading edge and the back panel of the jacket in the same position. There is very slight marking to the last 3 pages at the very edge of the pages. 20% of the front free endpaper has been clipped off at the top. Please ask questions for more details. Presents very nicely This is the true 1st edition no to half title which usually identifies the 1st reprint with Oxfords of this period. I note other 1939 editions offered by some dealers which are reprints. Good+/Very good-/Good.

Johnston.This is the sixth book in Bruce's 'Springdale' series, a group of novels set at a Scottish school by the seaside resort of Redchurch. This book follows a group of friends that includes Anne Willoughby and Primula Mary Beton as they transition into older figures in their school. Dorita Fairlie Bruce (1885-1970) was a Scottish children's author. She wrote the popular Dimsie series, which sold half a million hardback copies by 1947, making Bruce one of the most popular children's writers of the 1920s and 1930s. Collated, complete. In the original cloth binding, in the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, very smart. Minimal edge wear to extremities with light bumping to the head and tail of spine. Fading to the margins of boards and to the spine, with a few marks to rear board. Prior owner's pencil inscription to front endpaper. Dust wrapper is very smart. Minimal edge wear to the edges of wraps, with fading to the spine region. Lightly age toned to fly leaves and reverse, particularly the spine area, with light spots. A few closed tears to top of wraps with light chipping. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout with the odd spot. Very Good . Ill.: M. D. Johnston. Very Good/Very Good.
